Dr. Brian Wilson
Superintendent
In 2010, Dr. Brian R. Wilson was ecstatic when give an outstanding opportunity to join the Ava R-I School District. In addition, he was thrilled to find a population founded upon a proud academic tradition and strong bonds within the education community, ensuring student success both in and outside of the classroom.
Immediately preceding his arrival in Ava, Dr. Wilson persevered on his pathway of becoming a life-long learner and his career goal of earning an Educational Doctorate through Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. Dr. Wilson fully believes that those in education should be an example to our children and never stop learning or sharpening our skills. However, throughout fifteen years of previous experience, Dr. Wilson has served students as the Superintendent of Schools (four previous years), High School Principal, and Agricultural Education Instructor. All of the aforementioned experience was garnered at the R-III District in Fordland, Missouri.
Throughout his tenure in teaching, Dr. Wilson received a MS in Educational Administration from Missouri State University at Springfield, Missouri, and a Specialist in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University, as well. Prior to 1996 and his tenure in the field of education, Dr. Wilson graduated from a small rural high school in Southwest Missouri akin to Ava. After being integrally involved in numerous school activities and surrounded by exceptional educators, Dr. Wilson was in tune that education was to be his calling.
In visiting with educators, students, and community members throughout the past fifteen years, Dr. Wilson fully believes that Ava R-I is one of the best educational communities, which promotes our school district as well as focusing on the most crucial resource for America’s future, our children. It is a genuine pleasure to work with the educators and community of Ava in efforts in providing our students with an education that will give them opportunities for a bright future.
