Middle School Principal
What a blessing it is to be here in Ava and to have the privilege of taking part in the education of so many wonderful students! I have a passion for teaching and learning that I inherited from my father. I remember, as a boy, spending time in his 3rd grade classroom. I still remember how it felt as a child, seeing him working with students and doing those extra little things to make them feel special. I hope that I, too, can have such a strong impact on my students.
A little bit about myself: I was born in a small town very similar to Ava in southern Idaho. At the age of eleven my parents moved us to Spokane, WA where my father began his career as a teacher and my mother as a nurse. After high school, I lived two years in central Mexico where I truly learned to appreciate home and family. There I gained an appreciation for other cultures and really learned the value of hard work, dedication, and the importance of getting a good education. In 2000, I moved to Utah where I attended school and met my wonderful wife, Amy. We fell in love and after our wedding moved to St. Charles, MO to be closer to her family and finish my education. In 2004, I graduated from Lindenwood University and began my teaching career. I always knew that I wanted to be a principal so I went on the fast track to complete my administrative training. I completed my Master in Education Administration in 2005 and wrapped up my Education Specialist Degree in 2006. I am currently in the final stages of my doctorate degree.
I have a love for the outdoors, and I enjoy hunting and fishing. Athletics have also been a huge part of my life. In high school, I played football, basketball, and track and I had the wonderful experience of running track and playing football at the collegiate level. My faith and family are the most important things in my life. My wife and I have 4 wonderful, energetic boys. The Hirschi home is never dull!
This is going to be an amazing year! The success of our school depends on the teachers, staff members, parents, and patrons that serve our students. I know we can work together to ensure success! I encourage parents and community members to find ways to be involved in the school and to play an active role in the education of our children. I wish everyone a wonderful 2011-2012 school year!
